ULTIMATE GUIDE TO MATCH CONCEALERS: HOW TO MATCH CONCEALERS TO YOUR SKIN
Concealers are traditionally used to camouflage dark circles under your eyes, redness around your nose, or blemishes on your face. It's also a type of makeup that is sometimes used to cover up scars. But nowadays, concealers are used for lots of other things from covering acne scars to covering up sun damage and they can even be used as an eye shadow base.
But what if there's more than one way to get the same effect? What if there were different ways to give your eyes a nice pop of color so that they really stand out against your skin tone? The answer is: Yes!
There are actually two different types of concealers: Correctors and Highlighters.
Correctors are designed to bring out the natural color of your skin, so they tend to be less intense than highlighters. You'll want to choose a corrector that matches your skin tone as closely as possible—if it's too light or too dark, it won't do much for your eyes.
Highlighters are great for adding some extra brightness and warmth in specific areas of your face where you need it most—like around the eyes or on cheeks. They're also great for adding subtle highlights under makeup when you're applying foundation or blush (more on this later).
When you're applying makeup, one of the most important things to consider is the depth of your concealer. How much coverage do you need? What's the right shade for your skin tone? what do you want to achieve? We all have different requirements when it comes to foundation, but you can get a lot further if you know how to pick out the perfect concealer for your skin tone. You might wonder how anyone could possibly find the right concealer for their needs. Well, we've got a few tips that might help.
Here are some tips for choosing the perfect shade:
1. Choose one that matches your skin tone as closely as possible. If you have pink undertones, choose a yellow-based concealer. If you have blue undertones, go with a green-based concealer.
2. Try out several shades until you find one that works well with your skin tone (and doesn't make it look like there's something wrong with your face).
3. For highlights use a shade brighter than your exact shade and for the low light choose a shade darker or two shades darker than your skin.
4. Keep in mind what kind of coverage you need—some people want full coverage for redness or acne scars; others prefer lighter coverage, so they don't look like they're wearing anything at all (but still get enough coverage to cover dark circles).
5. Concealers can also serve as a foundation. Yes, you heard that right. Mix your concealer with primer or a moisturizer and you're good to go.
